OVSS hosts partial spring evaluations for the following Tier 1 teams in late April and early May.
 
Major Atom “AA” – 1 team
Minor Peewee “AA” – 1 team
 
Players Carried by Level from Partial Spring Tryout
 
  • Major Atom AA = 1 team, approx. 22 players carried
  • Minor Peewee AA = 1 team, approx. 22 players carried
  • Of note - Tryouts may consist of drills, scrimmages and exhibition games. “Carried” indicates the number of successful participants invited to attend the final sessions in August.
 
*Tier 2 ”A” tryouts for Major Atom and Minor Peewee commence in August. Released players from “AA” spring partial evaluations or other players only interested in Tier 2 Major Atom “A” and Minor Peewee "A", may report in August.
 
Location: All tryouts will be held at the Cavanaugh Construction Sensplex (Kinburn Sensplex) located on Carp Rd at Kinburn Side Rd, unless otherwise indicated.
 
Tryout Registration: All players must be registered members in good standing with their respective District 4 Home Association from the previous season. All players are expected to register for the upcomign season according to the Home Association’s policy by August 15th to continue with OVSS. We recommend that players arrive at least 45 minutes before the first session to allow time for check-in/jersey.  Players MUST register online for tryouts by clicking  COMING SOON payment will be due upon registration at the arena. Online registration closes at midnight on the Thursday before tryouts..
 
Tryout Fee: The pre-registered tryout fee is set and posted in the news article payable at the first session by cheque, cash or money order (please make the cheque or m/o payable to: Ottawa Valley Silver Seven). Players may not participate unless their tryout fee is paid in full. Walk-ups not pre-registered tryout fee is $50 more. Players retuning for Major Atom/Minor Peewee A Tryouts in August.
 
Tryout Releases:  Releases begin following the 2nd evaluation session and are available on the website by jersey color/number or last name.

General Information

Jerseys:  Silver Seven tryout jerseys will be provided upon registration. All other equipment is the responsibility of the individual player. All players are expected to retain their jersey for the August tryout for both the AA and A sessions; otherwise a $25 surcharge will apply.

Hydration/Snacks:  Players should provide their own labeled water bottle for all tryout sessions. Please be sure any dressing room snacks are PEANUT FREE.

Team Make-Up: There is no minimum or maximum player representation required from any one District Association.  Each team has a target of (9) forwards, (6) defense and (2) goalies.

Of note –
  • New players moving to the area with previous season AAA/AA experience may join the Major Atom/Minor Peewee final tryout in August provided they are registered members in good standing within the boundary.
  • New players moving to the area with previous season competitive A/B Novice experience may join the Minor Atom final tryout in August provided they are registered members in good standing within the boundary.
  • Players released from the initial spring evaluation are not permitted to attend the final tryout in August.
  • All groups are not authorized to begin fundraising until the teams are finalized in August.
  • Head coaches may book optional ice times and dryland sessions during the summer for their group prior to final tryouts in August. Their plan with regards to time/cost will be presented at tryouts.
  • Participants are guaranteed two (2) tryout ice times.
  • OVSS is not accepting novice birth year players to Minor Atom tryouts
* All advancing players are expected to attend all sessions; any players requiring exceptions for attendance must contact sherry@silversevenhockey.com
